Gluten Free Snack Ideas

Gluten Free Snacks : Colorado Center of Health and Nutrition BlogOne of the most common questions I get from my clients is: what are some good snack ideas? To go along with my previous post for Celiac Disease Awareness Month, I compiled a list of 25 gluten-free snack options, most of which are also dairy-free. All of the recipes provide some protein and/or fat to help keep you satisfied until your next meal.

Most of these ideas have minimal prep time, but some require a little extra prep. Carve aside a little extra time on the weekend to prep these ones every once and a while to introduce some variety.

If you’re unsure which ones to make, think about what type of snack makes you feel the most satisfied and go from there. Crunchy or smooth? Sweet or salty? Drinkable or a finger food?

Dairy-free options:

• Banana topped with peanut butter
• Pear + walnuts
• Carrots + hummus
• Hard-boiled egg smashed with some hummus
• Organic edamame
• Homemade kale chips
• Plantain chips dipped in salsa
• Trail mix made with a 2 to 1 ratio of nuts or seeds to dried fruit
• Grain-free granola served either plain or with a bit of milk alternative
• Chia pudding made with milk alternative
• Bell pepper slices wrapped in sliced turkey
• Smoothie made with unsweetened almond milk, frozen banana, ¼ cup frozen chopped spinach, 1 scoop gluten-free protein powder, 1 tsp chia seeds, and a dash of cinnamon
• Roasted sweet potato topped with coconut oil and a dash of cinnamon
Indian-spiced roasted nuts
Roasted chickpeas (make sure spice blend is gluten-free)
Chewy chocolate chip cookie dough bites

Other options:

• Apple + string cheese
• Olives + sliced white cheddar cheese
• Cooked beets + crumbled goat cheese
• Celery filled with cream cheese topped with dried raisins
• 0% or 2% plain Greek yogurt, berries, and hemp seeds
• Avocado smashed on a piece of gluten-free toast topped with hemp seeds
• Gluten-free toast topped with almond butter and a light drizzle of honey
• Cottage cheese with halved cherry tomatoes and black pepper
Peanut butter chocolate oatmeal cups (made with gluten-free oats and baking powder)
